How Marriage Counseling Works

Building Your Relationship For A Lifetime

Relationship counseling is essential if you are looking to mend a broken relationship or strengthen a marriage that needs some help. Conducted in a warm, caring environment, we will recognize the problems that have crept into your relationship and explore methods for solving these problems.

In couples counseling I will invite you to identify new methods of interaction that you want to move toward. We then identify the negative patterns that plague the relationship. You will learn to solve problems with a problem solving approach rather than attacking one another in a blame/defend/withdrawal approach.

Couples gain the skills to resolve arguments and repair any damage done.

Couples report their marriage counseling improves the following common challenges:

  • Feeling less isolated and lonely
  • Feeling less disconnected and misunderstood by your partner
  • Improved romance, sexual attraction and intimacy
  • Better communication
  • Less arguing and fighting about silly things
  • More time spent focused on what matters to their values
  • Stronger friendship and connection outside of the bedroom
  • Stronger parenting skills – feeling more “on the same page”
  • Greater empathy and compassion for each other’s flaws and humanness
  • Easier time forgiving “little things”
  • Less daily stress, less anxiety and less depression
  • A stronger bond and sense that you’re “in this together”

As a marriage counselor for more than 40 years, I can tell you that it works. Couples may have their set of challenges but being in therapy is a step towards resolution. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with the person you said “I Do” to so many years ago to see if that love is still there.

I can help you on that journey.
